Paul’s Charity Golf Day 30th May 2019 at Royal Wimbledon Golf Club

We are delighted to present our charity golf day at Royal Wimbledon Golf Club on Thursday 30 May 2019. The Trustees of Paul’s and everyone involved with the charity wish to express our appreciation for the generosity of the members of Royal Wimbledon.

All proceeds from the day will be used to fund Paul’s flagship home visiting service. This service is unique in the UK and is nationally recognised for its impact and the excellence of its specially developed training and supervision.

Seven days a week Paul’s volunteers offer counselling, befriending and complementary therapies, including massage and reflexology, to people with cancer who are too seriously ill or frail to leave home. The team includes registered therapy practitioners and local people trained to deliver befriending. The voluntary nature of the service is particularly important to clients. Knowing that people have given their time, skills and human warmth helps clients to feel “really cared for”.

Each year, home visiting reaches out to around 100 people who struggle not only with terminal or serious illness but also, in many cases, with poverty and social exclusion. Around 60% of home visiting clients are living alone and more than half are not in touch with their families. 85% talk about their loneliness. To these vulnerable people home visits bring relief, company and a listening ear to explore, articulate and resolve difficult issues.

Programme for the day

The day will include an 18-hole stableford competition, with teams of four in a shotgun start playing to win team and individual prizes. The competition will be followed by a drinks reception, entertainment, splendid lunch, and auctions in aid of Paul’s Cancer Support Centre.

The day will start with registration and a breakfast buffet from 7:30am and will conclude after the auctions at about 4:30pm. For full details of the day including our auction lots, please look at our programme.

We are delighted to welcome the following guests:
