Valuing our volunteers

Anne’s story

Anne Gale volunteers at the centre in the office and on reception.

“I joined Paul’s Cancer Support Centre in 2015 just after retirement.
I had taken advantage of one of the support courses and I wanted to give something back to them. I was so impressed with both the broad emotional and physical support they give to those affected by cancer. I also appreciated the wide diversity of their clients which I feel is important in a large and ever-growing city like London.
One of the main reasons I have stayed on at Paul’s is because of its continual effort to find new ways to support its clients (including their families and carers).”
Anne Gale
Anne’s contribution is hugely valued, we could not run our services and support as many people as we do without Anne and our other amazing volunteers, thank you all.

If you would be interested in volunteering with us please contact us on 020 7924 3924. We have a wide range of roles including services volunteers in our Centre and as part of our home visiting service.

Support Rosie running the Virgin London Marathon

Paul's has one place at the London Marathon every 5 years, so we are hoping you will all get behind our Runner, Rosie. Many of you will know Rosie, as she is both a service user and our volunteer Health Walk leader. She has run 11 Half Marathons and one 20-mile race since her diagnosis with leukaemia in 2017:
Rosie running
"I am really excited to be running for Paul's. I cannot overstate what a wonderful opportunity it is for me as a runner for my first 26.2 to be the iconic London Marathon. But more importantly I cannot overstate my gratitude for everything that Paul's offered that was so important to me around the time of my diagnosis and since then. This is a chance to give something back."
More Rosie running
"So when I say I am running to beat cancer, it means both my own health and also the holistic support that Paul's provides. They're with me every step. And there are a lot of steps! Race preparation has begun in earnest - follow me on Twitter @RosF14 to see updates from my training diary."
